Michael Stark, graduated at the Medical School of Tel-Aviv, in 1970 and specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. In 1983, after postgraduate training in gynaecological oncology in Newcastle, UK he was appointed as Medical Director and Head of Ob/Gyn at the Misgav Ladach General Hospital in Jerusalem, where he developed the Misgav Ladach caesarean section.
From 2002 to 2009 he was the Chairman of the Ob/Gyn Departments of the HELIOS Hospitals Group, a European network of hospitals, and since 2004 he is the President of the New European Surgical Academy (NESA) an interdisciplinary surgical academy with members in 55 countries. He also modified operations like the vaginal hysterectomy and demonstrated and taught these methods in training courses held in 39 countries. He was one of those who developed the single-entry surgical operations through the pouch of Douglas and the Trans-Oral Thyroidectomy. He was visiting Professor at the Universities of Toronto, Cornell University hospital in NYC, Moscow and Beijing.
Today he is a scientist at the Charite university hospital Berlin, department of onco-gynecology,and professor at the MIPT University in Moscow. He is also the scientific and medical advisor of the ELSAN 123 Hospital group in France.
He was appointed as Medico del Anno 2011 (Doctor of the year 2011) in Italy and is a honorary member of the Italian Association of Gynecological Surgeons, the Russian association of Perinatal Medicine, as well as the French and Polish Gynecological associations

Filippini is currently working as a Head for the Gynecological Endoscopy Module at the State Hospital of the Republic of San Marino. He has a doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Bologna. He is specialized in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Florence. Subsequently he obtained the European Diploma of Gynecological Endoscopy at the University of Auvergne in Clermont Ferrand. He has written some publications in various magazines and books. His publications reflect his research interests in the field of endoscopy and the treatment of vaginal atrophy, a field in which he has developed considerable experience in recent years.
Jan G. Nijhuis (1952) graduated as MD in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, and finished his PhD in 1984. He is one of the first "fetal watchers" and his very first publication "Are there behavioural states in the human fetus ?" After he finished his training as a gynaecologist, he specialised further in obstetric perinatology. Nijhuis also performed animal experimental work with prof Hanson and prof Dawes, in the University of Reading UK, and in that same period (1986-1987) he was also trained in prenatal diagnosis by prof. Nicolaides in the King's College Hospital in London. He is the (co-)editor of many books in the field of fetal behaviour, fetal ultrasonography, fetal monitoring, general and high care obstetrics. He has also initiated the process of making national guidelines in obs/gyn, and started the "workinggroup Otterlo", which is still the major contributor of the obstetric guidelines. He also initiated the yearly Dutch Progress Examination for residents Ob/Gyn (voortgangstoets), and introduced the "MOET-course" (managing obstetric emergencies & trauma) in the Netherlands. As member of several international societies and committees, his work has also been acknowledged internationally. In 1993 he received the "De Snoo van't Hoogerhuijs" award for perinatal research. In 2008 he was announced as "top-specialist Obs/Gyn" in the Netherlands, based on a national enquiry among Dutch Specialists. In 1999 he was appointed as professor in Obstetrics and head of the division Obstetrics in the University Hospital Maastricht. From 2008 he is director of the Centre for Genetics, Reproduction and Child health of the Maastricht University Medical Centre (MUMC), from 2005-2007 president of the Dutch Society of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (NVOG). In 2009 he was appointed as a member of the Dutch Health Council.
